Built for small businesses and non-technical teams: one flat plan, an AI trained on your website by pasting a link, answers that cite their sources, and a human who can always take over.
A plain-language look at how the two compare on the things small businesses actually ask about. Chatbase facts were checked on their public pricing page in July 2026.

SiteAssist has four plain plans — Free ($0), Starter ($40/mo, or $32/mo billed yearly), Pro ($150/mo, or $120/mo billed yearly), and Business ($500/mo, or $400/mo billed yearly). Each comes with a flat monthly allowance of AI replies (100, 5,000, 15,000, and 50,000), and only your assistant's replies count — visitor messages are free. Removing the SiteAssist branding is included with paid plans, not sold separately.
Chatbase prices by message credits. As of July 2026, its plans run from a free tier with 50 credits/month up to Pro at $400/mo with 15,000 credits, extra credits auto-recharge at $40 per 1,000, removing "Powered by Chatbase" is a $1,188/year add-on, and extra AI agents cost $300 per agent per year. None of that is unreasonable for teams who need it — but it's more arithmetic than most small businesses want to do before knowing their monthly bill.
Some conversations should end with a person. On SiteAssist's Pro plan and up, human takeover is built in — you can watch any conversation from your dashboard and jump in yourself the moment a customer needs a person. And on every plan, when the assistant doesn't know an answer, it offers to connect the visitor with a human rather than guessing.
As of July 2026, Chatbase's public pricing page doesn't list human handoff on any plan. If a human in the loop matters to your support flow, it's worth confirming with them directly before you commit.
The fastest way to lose a customer is a confident, wrong answer. Every SiteAssist reply cites the exact page it came from, so visitors — and you — can see where an answer originated instead of trusting a black box. When the answer isn't on your website, SiteAssist says "I don't know" and offers a human, instead of making something up. You can also review conversations, correct answers, and add custom Q&As that always win over the AI.
Chatbase gives you an agent-building workflow with plenty of configuration — genuinely useful if you have a developer who wants that control. SiteAssist takes the other path: paste your website link and it reads your pages, docs, and FAQs automatically. There's no AI training step and no data uploads. When you're ready, add one script tag to your site and your assistant starts answering customers.
There's nothing to migrate — SiteAssist learns straight from your website.
Step 1
SiteAssist reads your website's pages and builds your assistant — most sites are ready in about five minutes.
